Oriola to start COVID-19 vaccinations in its pharmacies in Skåne, Sweden

Oriola’s Kronans Apotek pharmacy chain has signed an agreement with Region Skåne in Sweden to offer a COVID-19 vaccination service. The collaboration with Kronans Apotek enables Region Skåne to increase the pace of vaccinations. The COVID-19 vaccinations at Kronans Apotek’s pharmacies will start earliest in April.
Preliminarily, about ten of Kronans Apotek’s pharmacies in Skåne will help to provide COVID-19 vaccinations for the region’s residents. The service is provided together with MediCheck, a Swedish private medical centre, whose nurses will carry out the vaccinations. Depending on the availability of vaccines, Kronans Apotek has the capacity to vaccinate 45,000 people against the virus in the first phase.
“Healthcare system is under an enormous pressure, and vaccination is another essential task requiring lots of resources. We are very happy to be able to further support public health by providing a COVID-19 vaccination service to Region Skåne. We are experienced in vaccines through our current vaccination services," says Anders Torell, Vice President of Business Area Consumer at Oriola.
Performing COVID-19 vaccinations expands Kronans Apotek’s vaccination service, launched in 2020 and available in over 20 pharmacies in Sweden. Today, the service covers, for example, vaccination against TBE and seasonal influenza.
