Materiality assessment

Oriola’s sustainability work is based on a stakeholder materiality assessment to ensure our sustainability programme focuses on material topics. Based on the analysis of identified relevant topics, we defined our sustainability programme, including sustainability themes and long-term goals.

The original materiality assessment was conducted in 2018, and it included a sustainability stakeholder questionnaire with our key stakeholders (customers including pharmacy consumers in Sweden, personnel, investors and other business partners). We received more than 460 replies through the questionnaire and supplemented the results with interviews with selected investors and customers.

In 2021 the materiality assessment was reviewed with a focus on the social responsibility topics. In addition to internal evaluation, the main stakeholder groups were interviewed to re-evaluate the relevance of the topics and to assess gaps in stakeholder expectations and Oriola’s sustainability programme. As a result, the topics identified in 2018 were evaluated material for Oriola and our stakeholders and there were no significant changes compared with the previous assessment.

In the materiality matrix below, the topics are presented based on their importance to our stakeholders and significance of our impact. The vertical axis shows influence on the assessment and decisions of stakeholders and the horizontal axis significance of economic, environmental and social impacts of Oriola.
